About Carolina
Carolina Hengstenberg was born in Madrid, Spain. After studying alto saxophone at Katerina Gurská Music Conservatory, she continued her studies at Escuela de Musica Creativa, where she earned a degree in composition and arranging, as well as an award in 2013 for her outstanding creative work. She has been an active performing musician, composer, arranger, and music director.
Her compositions have been performed throughout Madrid by a number of well-known local groups: Ballet Flamenco, Soul and Folk groups, small jazz band and Big Band, among others. She has also arranged for different groups and songwriters.

In 2013 she moved to Boston pursuing a higher education at the Berklee College of Music, to study Composition, Conducting and Film Scoring.
She was awarded with an Achievement Scholarship and a Student Grant from Berklee for her work at school. One of her big band compositions was selected by the Women Musicians Network Contest at Berklee in 2014. One of her counterpoint inventions was awarded in the Best Invention Plus Contest at Berklee in 2015. She has been an active composer at the Society of Composers at Berklee.

Since graduating Magna Cum Laude from Berklee, her career has taken off. She cofounded an independent animation and music studio Bubblegum Cartoons. This project focuses on pairing animation with expertly composed scores. She was also one of the orchestrators for the Christmas Concert at the Carnegie Hall in New York, and the music director of the musical "Grease" in Boston. She is also working as a film composer, orchestrator, arranger and conductor in Spain, Boston, New York, Los Angeles and London.
